Girls’ Shelter in Kampala: Most days, we have to turn girls away
With your help, we can make space for more girls — and every gift is doubled this week.
Why our safe shelter for girls in Kampala matters
Every day, girls in crisis are identified by our team or referred to us by the police. They need urgent safety and care.
But with few beds the team face impossible choices. Thanks to generous supporters, we’ve already raised funds for a few more beds — but we still need resources to keep the shelter running: food on the table, caring staff, and support for girls seeking justice.
After recent aid cuts, ours is the only formal girls’ shelter left open in Kampala.
“Most days, more girls are referred than we have beds for. We now lay out mats on the floor for girlsto sleep on — because sending a child back into danger is unthinkable.” — Shelter Manager
A safe bed is just the beginning
Your support provides:
A clean bed and warm blanket the night she arrives
Food, medical care, and counselling to help her heal
Games, learning and play so she can feel like a child again
A pathway to a safer future — whether that’s with family, foster care or another safe place to live.
“This place gave me peace. I found people who cared for me.” – Michelle, 13
