Keep her in school.
Help her lead!
“I wanted to go too, but I thought school wasn’t for girls like me.” — Sarah
Now Sarah’s back in class — determined to finish school and help other girls do the same.
In Kawempe, every term is a test of endurance: finding fees, walking long distances, studying by candlelight, and pushing past the pressure to give up.
To work.
To marry early.
To escape unsafe situations.
And still, girls keep going.
They believe that finishing school will give them choices, safety and a future of their own making.
From 2–9 December 2025, you can stand with them.
Every donation to our Big Give appeal will be doubled by a generous anonymous donor (we don’t even know who they are — we just know that they believe in the power of our project to get girls through school).

Why secondary education matters
Finishing secondary school changes everything.
Each extra year of education increases a girl’s future income and reduces her risk of early marriage or exploitation.
But more than that, it gives her the confidence to decide her own path — and the courage to help others do the same.
At Awamu, we’ve seen this happen.
Girls who once doubted themselves are now prefects, mentors and nurses-in-training.
They prove that when determination meets opportunity, whole communities rise.
That’s why we invest in more than school fees.
We surround girls with what it takes to succeed — mentoring, healthcare, safe spaces and family support — so they can keep learning and finish what they started.
What your support makes possible
“We remind each other why we started.” — Tracy, Senior 4
“When I came back to school, I didn’t believe I could succeed.
Now I’m confident I’ll pass with a first grade — and I want to train as a nurse.” — Aminah, Senior 4
Your donation helps a girl stay in school — and succeed.
It might pay for her uniform and school pack, or cover the health visits that mean she doesn’t have to miss class.
It might train the teacher who spots when something’s wrong, or support the mentor who reminds her why she started.
And as each girl succeeds, others follow.
One girl’s progress sparks change across her classroom, her family and her community.
Because when one girl makes it, she pulls others up with her.
What your doubled gift can do for one girl
Every donation you make between 2–9 December 2025 will be doubled — twice the impact for girls in Kawempe.

Join us for Make Mine a Double
To close Big Give week, we’ll be celebrating with our annual ‘Make Mine a Double’ music marathon, featuring DJs and artists from the Together community and Radio Water crew.
It’s our favourite weekend of the year — when music lovers come together (and stay up far too late) to raise life-changing funds for girls in Kawempe.
Last year’s event raised over £19,000 — and this December, every pound you give during the marathon will be doubled.
Save the dates: 6–8 December
